I started this blog back in August 2009. At the time, I was in the process of publishing Rymellan 1: Disobedience Means Death and felt that the information around the net about self-publishing in Canada was sparse. I’d also owned the sarahettritch.com domain for a couple of years and figured I should do something with it. Well, everyone seems to insist that writers should have a blog, so why not blog?
I installed WordPress and started to post about self-publishing and anything else that came to mind. I’ve touched on games, movies, cats, writing, and numerous other subjects. Most of the posts have been book reviews or of an informational nature; a few have been personal.
It was a bit of an experiment for me, and I’ve learned a few things about blogging and how I feel about it. I’m not as comfortable blogging about the personal as I am about the non-personal. I’ve come to believe that the blog lacks focus. And the subjects I most enjoy blogging about are (self) publishing and non-fiction books (reviewing them).
With that in mind, I’ve made changes at sarahettritch.com. The site now has a static front page with progress meters for the latest Rymellan story and the fantasy story. It also tells folks where else I hang out around the net. I moved the blog to a tab. I’ll still occasionally post to it, but the posts will mainly be about writing, non-fiction books, and any Rymellan Fiction news.
So what about publishing? I’ve moved all the publishing posts to a new blog, Self-Publishing Adventure. I’d owned the selfpublishingadventure.com domain for almost two years but hadn’t done anything with it. Now I have. The About page talks about how I ended up self-publishing. If you’ve been following my publishing related posts, check out Self-Publishing Adventure.
News about my book (and any forthcoming books), such as giveaways, new releases, new places to buy, etc., will be posted to Norn Publishing.
So to recap:
- Publishing: See Self-Publishing Adventure
- My book(s): See Norn Publishing
- Writing, Rymellan Fiction, Non-fiction books: Stay right here.
This will work a lot better for me, and I hope it works better for you too.
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Sarah,
Thanks so much for leaving your lovely comment on my blog. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog and posts.
I see you’re making great progress on your novels. 30,000 words to go on the one! The end is in site. Keep me posted about your progress.
Warm regards,
Mirella
Mirella,
Your blog is great! I’m learning so much from it. I wish I only had 30,000 words to go on my novel, but I actually have around 50,000. I’m closing in on the halfway mark, though. I’ve decided to update the meters every Friday, so the latest numbers will be there tomorrow.
Thanks for dropping by!
